Obituary

Danya Edwards was welcomed into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on May 12, 2026, following a lifelong battle with Pulmonary Hypertension and Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia (HHT). Her final days were spent peacefully at her home in North Babylon, New York, surrounded by her loving family and supported by a dedicated team of physicians, including her favorite doctor Jared Hertz, specialists, and compassionate caregivers.

Danya was born on July 5, 1968, in Colón, Panama, to Jose Guillermo Aguirre and Ana Betty Dale. At the age of eleven, she moved to the United States in 1979, where she would build a life filled with family, friendships, and faith.

For many years, Danya worked as a Technology Help Coordinator at UJA-Federation of New York, a role she truly enjoyed. She took pride in helping others and was respected by colleagues who appreciated both her dedication and her vibrant personality.

Danya's grandmother and mother introduced her as a child to Jesus Christ. She attended Grace Baptist Church. Despite the many challenges she faced with her health, Danya remained a woman of faith who trusted in God through every season of life. Her courage and resilience inspired those around her. She loved the warmth of the sun, time spent outdoors, good food (especially if it was spicy), and cheering for her favorite team, the New York Yankees.

Above all, Danya cherished her role as a mother. Her greatest blessings were her three daughters: Taeleen, her superstar; Tayla, her rock; and Tiara, her sunshine. They were the joy of her life and the legacy she leaves behind. She was so proud of their academic achievements and employment.

Danya was also blessed with many cherished friendships that felt like family, including her childhood friends Martina, Sonya, Natasha & Kenny, Alicia & Sherekhan, Karen and Deseree.

Those who knew Danya will remember her strong spirit, her humor, and her unwavering faith. She reminded those around her that life is a gift meant to be lived, celebrated, and treasured. She believed in loving deeply, appreciating the little moments, and keeping Jesus at the center of life.

Danya is survived by the father of her children, Randy; her beloved daughters Taeleen, Tayla, and Tiara; her father, Jose Guillermo Aguirre; her brothers Fernando, Angel, Guillermo, and Raul; and her sisters Nahir, Francia, and Anabel. She is also survived by many in-laws, cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Guillermo Jose Aguirre; paternal grandmother, Francia de Aguirre; maternal grandfather, Charles Dale; maternal grandmother, Lucia Rollox Dale; her mother, Ana Betty Dale; and her brothers, Sebastian Dale, Delano Chevannes, and Randy Aguirre.
